Gettysburg Address Questions

1) Lincoln failed to go into greater detail about the Civil War. He didnt mention anything about who was involved in it or what the reason was at to fighting. He did not say what the new nation was that was brought onto us people. Lincoln stated that they cannot consecrate or hallow this ground given to them but never gave any further information as to why the task could not be fulfilled.

2) His whole speech was leaning towards our forefathers. He stated that it was basically from them that we have this beautiful land that we reside on today. Lincoln wants you to remember your people and always cherish what you have. This line made his audience get to thinking that he was right and they should show their devotion by giving back to this wonderful land.

3) These two are both related to each other and written in similar thoughts. The main focus of the Declaration of Independence was to inform our nation's people that everyone has their rights and that we are all equal. The Gettysburg Address was to address the situation of where our land came from and to never let that go. They both at the same time create an argument of everyone being equal at the same time of people having slaves and obviously African-American's being treated as outcasts.

4) As I have heard many speeches in my life none quite like this. When one puts together a speech, an argument is formed. Some arguments good and others terrible. This was good for the most part along with others I've heard. But to say one thing and then basically go against what you say is not respectable. You say that a nation is equal but then you take one particular kind of people and make them seem like servants, at your command. That is not how it should be and could have put together much better.
